What is a hurricane?

A severe tropical cyclone with sustained winds of 74 mph (64 knots) or more is a hurricane. The main risks are high winds, torrential rains, flooding, storm surges and high waves. The hurricane is the term used for systems located in central and eastern Pacific. Systems of this intensity occur in the western Pacific are called typhoons. Five categories for hurricanes of various intensities have been established.

What do to protect
The basic things to do:

• Listen to local radio stations for official announcements from the Civil Defense and instructions.
• Evacuate when advised resistant buildings or public shelters.
• During a warning when the sirens sound, cover the windows with boards or tape.
• Secure loose objects that can blow like furniture.
• Leave the areas that could flood.
• Stay indoors during high winds, stay away from windows.
• Stay away from exterior walls and doors.
• "Be aware," the calm "eye" of the hurricane is misleading.
• Turn off water and electricity at the source of the house.
• Unplug all appliances.

Preparations:

• Having chosen a venue that is somewhere other than your home.
• Have an evacuation and disaster kit ready that includes a radio and batteries.
• Prepare a personal evacuation plan for
• Assemble a supplies for disaster

• Install hurricane storm shutters or precut wood for windows.
• Remove the branches and small trees that may fall within the house.
• Store extra food, batteries and water.

Hurricane related terms.

Flash Flood Warning means a flood is im nent; take immediate action.

Flash Flood Watch a flood is possible in the area, stay alert.

Hurricane: Pronounced rotary circulation, constant wind speed of 74 mph (64 knots) or more.

Hurricane watch was issued for a coastal area when there is a threat of hurricane conditions within 24-36 hours.

Hurricane Warning is issued when hurricane conditions are expected in specified coastal area within 24 hours or less. Hurricane conditions are winds of 74 mph (64 knots) and / or tidal dangerously high water and waves. Actions to protect life and property should begin immediately when the warning is issued.

Precautionary Statements small boats. When a tropical cyclone threatens a coastal area, small craft operators are advised to remain in port or not to venture into the sea open.

A hurricane warning is issued when winds of 55-73 mph (48-63 knots). If a hurricane is expected to reach coastal area, gale or storm warnings will not usually precede hurricane warnings.

Super typhoon Joint Typhoon classifies typhoons with winds of 150 mph or more (the equivalent to a Category 4) as a super typhoon
Tropical cyclone is the general term for all cyclone circulations that originate in the waters tropics.

Tropical disturbance: Moving area of thunderstorms in the tropics, which maintain an identity of 24-hours or more.

Depression tropical: Rotary circulation at constant surface wind speed 38 mph (33 knots).

Tropical Storm: Different rotary movement, constant wind speed ranges 39-73 miles per hour (34-63 knots).

Typhoon A typhoon is a great and powerful tropical cyclone, an area of low pressure rotating counterclockwise and containing rising warm air that forms over warm water in the western Pacific Ocean. Less powerful tropical cyclones are called tropical depressions and tropical storms.

Should I buy a manual sweeper (not a brush), or a cordless sweeper? Why or why not for everyone?

I want to make a good vacuum cleaner for the house looks like mine all die in the carpet 6 months (usually I only spent about $ 50-80 in which I bought in the past). He wondered if anyone has used a Dyson vacuum cleaner., O intensity Electrolux vacuum worth the extra money? Or is there another brand that anyone recommends? Thank you.

Dyson vacuum cleaner is the best I have used never. Period! Even though the carpet looks clean can with my Dyson Hoover and there are a lot of dust and dirt in the cylinder, of course. Really worth the money in my opinion. LB

What UV filter fits into the Nikon SLR 28-80 mm zoom lens?

I have a Nikon D50 digital camera and just bought online from a kit digital accessories that includes a 52mm UV filter. This is useless to me, and I thought that the filter is going to have a universal size, but that does not fit on the end of the lens. The lens is a 28-80mm, which is the most commonly included with the D50 SLR, so I feel a bit stupid for having bought this. I read the answers published so far and I'm still a little confused – I am very new at this. The symbol of the lens to the size of filter has a 58 after it. The lens is a Nikon AF Nikkor 28-80mm 1:3.3-5.6 G, I had trouble finding it at B & H site and felt a little advice overhwelmed by Nikonians.

Unfortunately, other responses of 62mm and 77mm are wrong. The Nikkor 28-80mm f/3.3-5.6G Autofocus Lens has a filter size of 58 mm! That's what the 58 after the filter symbol (O with a line through) means. The 52mm filter should look like you bought it just a little too small. Go to Nikon USA: http://www.nikonusa.com/template.php?cat=1&grp=5&productNr=1927 and click on the tab "Specification" or discharge sheet and see that Nikon is said to be 58 mm.
